A brand new Washington Post-ABC News poll finds that 9 out of 10 Americans surveyed are concerned that political divisions have intensified to the point that they’re increasing the risk of violence in the U.S.
The poll, conducted in the week following the brutal attack on Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), included 63% who said they were “very concerned.”
A slim plurality of Americans (31%) blamed the Republican Party more for the risk of violence, compared with 25% who blamed the Democratic Party more. Another 32% blame both parties equally. Most Democrats and Republicans blamed the opposing party.
