The Biden Administration said Monday that Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff would host a roundtable of Jewish Leaders and White House officials to discuss ways to combat hate and the rise on antisemitism in the U.S.
Emhoff, who is married to Vice President Harris, is the first Jewish spouse of a President or Vice President.
The event comes just days after former President Trump’s recent dinner at his Florida country club residence, Mar-a-Lago, with white supremacist Nick Fuentes and rapper Kanye “Ye” West, both of whom have praised Hitler. However, the White House says Emhoff’s antisemitism roundtable has been in the works for weeks—but adds the Trump meeting does give it added significance.
According to the White House, participants will include White House Domestic Policy Adviser Susan Rice, Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism Deborah Lipstadt, and Senior Adviser to the President for Public Engagement Keisha Lance Bottoms who is the former Mayor of Atlanta.
The roundtable will also include 13 Jewish groups, including the Anti-Defamation League, the American Jewish Congress and Jewish on Campus.
