Trevian Kutti, 18th of 19 co-defendants, surrenders at Fulton County Jail in Georgia

August 25, 2023

Entertainment publicist Trevian Kutti has turned herself in at the Fulton County Jail on charges related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia.

The surrender of the publicist, whose former clients include R. Kelly and Kanye West, follows that of five other co-defendants who did so Thursday night after former President Trump surrendered around 7:30pm ET and had his mug shot taken.

Kutti’s booking leaves just one of the 19 co-defendants who were indicted by a grand jury last week facing Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ noon deadline to “voluntarily surrender” or face an arrest warrant: Illinois pastor Stephen Lee.

Both Kutti and Lee are accused of attempting to influence the testimony of Fulton County election worker Ruby Freeman.

Along with a racketeering charge, which all 19 co-defendants are facing, Kutti faces two additional criminal counts: conspiracy to commit solicitation of false statements and writings, and influencing witnesses.

Kutti approached Freeman in January 2021, after the election worker was already facing threats. Freeman, along with her daughter and fellow election worker Shaye Moss, had been targeted by Trump and his then-attorney Rudy Giuliani by baselessly claiming the pair were counting fake mail-in ballots. Those claims have been refuted repeatedly by local and federal officials.

In a July court filing in a lawsuit against Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City—one of the 19 co-defendants who surrendered on Wednesday—admitted that he had told lies about Freeman and Moss.

Back in 2021 Freeman had contacted police about Kutti approaching her, and a meeting was set up at a Cobb County precinct.

A subsequent police report stated, “Ms. Kutti stated that Ms. Freeman was in danger and had 48 hours to speak with her so that she could get ahead of the issue.”

During their meeting Kutti told Freeman, “I cannot say what specifically will take place, I just know that it will disrupt your freedom.”

Kutti added that Freeman was a “loose end” that the GOP had to “tidy up.”

The publicist, who’s from Chicago, told local media in that city that she is “appalled” at the accusations against her in Georgia as she was “simply being a crisis manager.”
