FBI agents on Thursday raided the Brooklyn home of Brianna Suggs, a campaign consultant and top fundraiser for New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D).
The raid, which was ongoing as of Thursday afternoon, apparently prompted the mayor to abruptly cancel several meetings scheduled for Thursday morning in Washington DC, where he had planned to talk with White House officials and members of Congress about the influx of migrants in New York and other pressing issues.
A source with knowledge of the raid told the New York Times that agents with the FBI’s New York public corruption squads had questioned Suggs during a search of her home, and a spokesperson for the Bureau confirmed that agents were “at that location carrying out law enforcement action,” referring to Suggs’ home.
Adams’ fundraising machine has already raised more than $2.5 million for his 2025 reelection campaign, according to the Times.
In the past two years, Adams’ campaign has paid Suggs, a registered lobbyist, nearly $100,000 for fund-raising and campaign consulting services via her company, Suggs Solutions, according to city records. His first mayoral campaign paid her more than $50,000.
By her own account, she has personally raised $18.4 million for Adams’ 2021 campaign, and at least $900,000 so far for his 2025 reelection effort.
The Times could not immediately reach Suggs for comment. When asked for comment by WABC-TV, the mayor’s office said Suggs is not a City Hall employee, has nothing to do with the operation of the city and directed all questions to the mayor’s campaign spokesperson, who did not immediately respond to a request comment.
The FBI, which as a policy does not comment on ongoing investigations, has not commented on the raid.
