November 10, 2023

Gregory Yetman, wanted for crimes related to the deadly January 6, 2021 insurrection on the U.S. Capitol, surrendered to authorities Friday following a two-day manhunt and four days after an arrest warrant was issued.

Yetman turned himself in to police in Monroe Township, New Jersey Friday morning amid a SWAT team search and a $10,000 reward for his capture offered by the FBI.

An arrest warrant had been issued for Yetman in Washington DC on Monday, after he was charged with multiple offenses related to the January 6 attack that was aimed at preventing Congress from certifying the results of the 2020 Presidential election.

According to the FBI, Yetman faces charges of assault, resisting or impeding officers, obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder, entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds, and physical violence in the Capitol Grounds or Buildings.

On January 6, the 47-year-old was a military police sergeant in the New Jersey Army National Guard, according to a military spokesperson. He served in the unit for roughly 12 years before he was honorably discharged in March, 2022.

Yetman is likely to make his initial court appearance in Newark, New Jersey on Monday.
