Biden Has Fundraiser With Michael Douglas

April 26, 2024

In a remarkable event held at the Westchester home of Hollywood stars Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, the president of the United States, Joe Biden made an unfortunate error during a speech. The President, who holds the record for being the oldest to hold office in the US at 81, confused the date of the January 6 riots, previously referring to them as occurring on June 6.

Biden’s attempt to trash Trump supporters once again backfired.

Biden’s slip of the tongue occurred whilst he was expressing his thoughts about January 6, questioning the individuals who didn’t comprehend its gravitas. Interestingly, June 6 marks D-Day, a crucial event during World War II, when the Allied forces invaded Normandy, and more than 2,500 American soldiers lost their lives.

“We’ll certainly never forget the dark days of June 6, January 6th, excuse me,” the commander-in-chief said, according to a White House pool report.

“One of the dark days in history. The idea that wasn’t an insurrection — I don’t understand,” he added.

Once again, the elite was featured at the function, which saw around a hundred attendees, including notable figures such as award-winning fashion designer Eileen Fisher, well-known attorney Rodge Cohen and his wife, Barbara, respected venture capitalist Robert Goodman and his wife, Jayne Lipman, distinguished hedge fund manager John Shapiro and his wife, Shonni Siverberg, and Jonathan and Judy Siegel.

Besides the gaffe, Biden also mentioned some perceived missteps of former President Donald Trump, including the infamous episode where peaceful protestors were deterred with tear gas. Further, the president criticized Trump’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, including his controversial bleach injection suggestion.

Actor Michael Douglas, who spoke before Biden, mentioned the absence of his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, who was filming a television series in Dublin, Ireland. Douglas not only introduced Biden but also expressed his desire to see Biden’s tenure continue, referring to him as an “extraordinary, seasoned veteran.”

The incident comes on the heels of what has know been called Biden’s Ron Burgundy moment.
