The Republican National Committee (RNC) reported that its headquarters in Washington, DC, was the target of a ‘biological attack’ on Wednesday. The incident involved vials of blood being sent to the building. Upon discovering a suspicious package, the building was temporarily locked down, and a Hazmat team was dispatched to the scene.
Once the area was declared safe, RNC Chairman Michael Whatley issued a statement about the incident. He expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their quick response and ensuring everyone’s safety. He reported that the staff resumed their duties after the lockdown was lifted. Whatley emphasized that the RNC remains undeterred in its mission to re-elect President Trump no matter what nefarious activity may take place.
“This revolting attack comes on the heels of pro-Hamas protestors violently demonstrating on college campuses and deranged Biden supporters physically attacking our campaign volunteers for supporting President Trump,” he said. “While Republicans fight to strengthen our economy, secure our southern border, and halt the violent crime in our communities, the fringe-left is wreaking havoc, sowing fear, and lying to the public in a bad-faith effort to divide Americans and sway an election.”
Whatley also linked the attack to recent violent demonstrations by pro-Hamas protesters on college campuses and physical attacks on campaign volunteers by some Biden supporters. He criticized the extreme left for attempting to divide Americans and sway the election through fear and lies. Despite these actions, Whatley stated that the RNC would continue to work towards its goals of improving the economy, securing the southern border, and reducing violent crime.
Earlier in the day, U.S. Capitol Police notified Congress members about a ‘suspicious substance’ at the RNC headquarters. The police advised staff and personnel to avoid the area while they investigated. The source of the lockdown was revealed to be vials of blood sent to the Republican headquarters. Bomb squad officers were also seen at the location.
The White House condemned the attack. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre expressed concern over the incident. She stated that political violence and threats have no place in any community or political discourse. The press secretary emphasized that such actions are unacceptable in politics or anywhere else.
