President Biden on Monday took off for suburban Minneapolis as part of his effort to highlight his clean energy and economic agenda.
During an afternoon speech in Fridley, Minnesota, the White House said Biden would discuss “how his economic agenda has led to the strongest job growth in history, over $435 billion in major private sector investments nationwide, stronger supply chains here at home, and a Made in America manufacturing and clean energy boom.”
Biden was set to pitch his agenda while visiting the engine manufacturer Cummins Inc., which intends to jointly announce a more than $1 billion in its U.S. engine manufacturing network in Indiana, North Carolina and New York to update facilities so they can produce low- to zero-carbon engines.
The Biden Administration says its economic plan has led to $2.7 billion in federal funding for roughly 182 infrastructure projects across Minnesota, including transportation and clean water projects.
And as he has during visits to other states, Biden also planned to highlight the CHIPs Act, the $1.9 trillion bipartisan Infrastructure Act and the Inflation Reduction Act.
Biden has been taking opportunities, such as this speech in Minnesota, to contrast his agenda and his proposed $2.6 trillion budget for fiscal year 2024 with that of the GOP’s plans.
Republicans have rejected Biden’s budget but have yet to unveil their own alternative—despite House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) this past week urging Biden to negotiate with him on the debt ceiling.
