The office of Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney said Tuesday that some of the 2020 Presidential Election’s fake electors have implicated each other in potential criminal activity.
The assertions from D.A. Fani Willis’ office were revealed in a new court filing.
Willis is also seeking to disqualify their lawyer, Kimberly Bourroughs Debrow, who is currently representing a group of 10 Republicans who served as electors for former President Trump in Georgia. The District Attorney’s office has accused Debrow of failing to present an immunity deal to her clients that prosecutors offered last year.
That runs counter to claims by Debrow and another attorney last year, who told the court they had informed their clients of the immunity deals, but they said none of the clients were interested. The prosecution’s latest filing states, “no potential offer of immunity was ever brought to them in 2022.”
Prosecutors claim that Debrow committed an ethical breach by representing so many clients at once—including electors who have “made adverse claims” against other electors whom Debrow represents. Prosecutors argue this is clear conflict of interest.
During interviews earlier this month, the filing states, “some of the electors stated that another elector represented by Ms. Debrow committed acts that are violations of Georgia law and that they were not party to these additional acts.”
Willis’ prosecution of efforts by Trump and Trump allies to overturn his narrow 2020 election loss in that state reportedly was sparked by Trump’s phone call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on January 2, 2021. During that conversation the then-President pressured his fellow Republican, who recorded the call, saying, “I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have.”
In late January, Willis said in court that “decisions” on indictments in the case were “imminent.”
Debrow has so far not responded to reporters’ requests for comment. However, one of the electors whom she represents, Georgia Republican Party Chair David Shafer, said in an email that the prosecution’s allegations are “entirely false” and that the court “already has documents in its possession…that prove the DA’s allegations false.”
