Prime time host Tucker Carlson is leaving Fox News, the New York Times reported Monday.
The network made the announcement less than a week after Fox agreed to pay $787.5 million to settle a defamation suit brought by Dominion Voting Systems, in which Carlson’s show figured prominently for its role in spreading disinformation about the 2020 Presidential election’s results.
In a press release, Fox News said the network and Carlson “have agreed to part ways,” adding that Carlson’s last episode was this past Friday, April 21.
It was not immediately clear Monday how Carlson’s departure might figure into a related $2.7 billion lawsuit brought against it by Smartmatic voting systems. Any trial in that case could potentially still be months away.
