Former Trump attorney John Eastman on Tuesday morning surrendered at the Fulton County jail on charges related to Georgia’s 2020 election.
Along with former President Trump, Eastman, who authored the fake electors scheme to try to overturn President Biden’s 2020 electoral college victory, is among 19 co-defendants who were indicted by a grand jury in Fulton County last week.
Eastman faces nine criminal counts linked to the Georgia probe, including racketeering, a charge facing all 19 co-defendants. The former Trump attorney has also been charged with such crimes as conspiring to commit false statements and writings, and forgery.
On Monday Eastman agreed to a $100,000 bond deal with Fulton County prosecutors.
Eastman is the second of the co-defendants to turn himself in. Atlanta bail bondsman Scott Hall surrendered at Fulton County jail earlier Tuesday morning after agreeing Monday night to a $10,000 bond deal. Hall is accused of conspiring to unlawfully access voter data and ballot counting machines at Georgia’s rural Coffee County election office on January 7, 2021.
Also on Monday, former President Trump agreed with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who brought the investigation, to a $200,000 bond. That evening Trump posted on Social Media that he’ll be turning himself in at the Fulton County jail on Thursday.
Along with the criminal indictment, Eastman is facing potential disbarment in California for what prosecutors in that state called baseless theory and made false claims of fraud related to the fake electors scheme.
