Former Trump attorney Jenna Ellis reached a plea deal in Fulton County in the 2020 Georgia election interference case.
Ellis is one of 19 co-defendants, along with former President Trump, who were indicted by a grand jury on racketeering charges related to attempts to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election, following a more-than two-year investigation by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
As part of her deal, Ellis pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting false statements, according to court documents in Fulton County.
Ellis was sentenced to five years probation, 100 hours of community service, must pay $5,000 restitution and write an apology letter. She will also have to testify if the state calls her.
She is the fourth of the 19 co-defendants to reach a guilty plea agreement. On Friday another former Trump attorney, Kenneth Chesebro, author of a memo about the “alternate electors” scheme, took a guilty plea, following plea deals by fellow former Trump attorney Sidney Powell as well as Atlanta bail bondsman Scott Hall.
In August following her indictment, Ellis questioned on social media why Trump’s legal defense fund wasn’t paying her bills.
“I was reliably informed Trump isn’t funding any of us who are indicted,” Ellis posted. Referring to Trump’s run for reelection in 2024, she added, “Would this change if he becomes the nominee? Why then, not now?”
A trial date has not yet been set for the 15 remaining co-defendants, including Trump, but Willis has asked that the trial begin on March 4.
