Infighting between some House Republicans has been sparked by an effort on Wednesday to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) over her criticism of Israel’s war with Hamas.

On Wednesday evening the motion to censure was “tabled,” or killed, by a vote of 222 to 186, with 23 Republicans siding with all 199 Democrats who voted.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) exchanged jabs on Thursday morning with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who had called for Tlaib’s censure. Greene began the quarrel after Roy explained his reason for voting to table the resolution was because its text was “deeply flawed and made legally and factually unverified claims.”

Greene accused Roy of having voted to kick her out of the far-right Freedom Caucus this past summer. She blasted the group for including “CNN wannabe” Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) and “vaping, groping” Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), who was asked to leave a musical theater event in September for inappropriate behavior.

Greene then went on to blast Roy himself for voting to “protect terrorist Tlaib,” and claimed that Roy hated former President Trump, since he “certified Biden’s election, and could care less” about January 6 insurrection suspects “being persecuted.”

Roy responded by referring to a 2018 tweet from Greene suggesting that a “laser beam or light beam” from “space solar generators,” controlled by a wealthy Jewish family, might be to blame for devastating wildfires in California.

“Tell her to go chase so-called Jewish space lasers if she wants to spend time on that sort of thing,” Roy told The Hill.

Greene expanded her ire toward all 23 Republicans who voted to table her motion to censure Tlaib, listing their names on social media and writing, “This is why Republicans NEVER do anything to stop the communists Democrats or ever hold anyone accountable!! PATHETIC.”
