New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) said Tuesday that his top fundraiser, 25-year-old Brianna Suggs, has been reassigned following an FBI raid on her Brooklyn residence.
“With Brianna, she’s no longer doing fundraising for the campaign,” Adams said in a news conference Tuesday.
The mayor did not elaborate but according to CBS News, Suggs is still with the campaign though she has been transitioned to another role.
Earlier this month Adams said he’s “fully cooperating” with a federal investigation into alleged foreign influence into his 2021 election campaign that sparked the search of Suggs’ home. Federal prosecutors and the FBI have reportedly been investigating whether the mayor’s 2021 election campaign took illegal foreign donations from the Turkish government.
The FBI raided Suggs’ home on November 2. The FBI also seized Adams’ cell phones and an iPad pursuant to a court authorized search warrant, though there has been no indication that the mayor, himself, is a target of the investigation, and he is not accused of any wrongdoing.
In the past two years, Adams’ 2025 reelection campaign has paid Suggs, a registered lobbyist, nearly $100,000 for fund-raising and campaign consulting services via her company, Suggs Solutions, according to city records. His first mayoral campaign paid her more than $50,000.
Adams’ fundraising machine has already raised more than $2.5 million for his 2025 reelection campaign, at least $900,000 for which Suggs has claimed to be responsible. She has further claimed to have personally raised $18.4 million for Adams’ initial 2021 mayoral campaign.
Meanwhile, Adams is fighting allegations of having committed sexual assault in 1993. He was accused in a summons filed in Manhattan court earlier this month under New York State’s Adult Survivors Act, a law that went into effect last Thanksgiving and gave adults a one-year window to report alleged abuse. The law expired at the end of last week.
Adams has denied the assault allegations.
