US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Thursday for the first time since the war in Ukraine began more than a year ago.

The war in Ukraine is expected to overshadow talks as the world's biggest economies meet on Thursday.

The Ukrainian leader appears virtually at the Bali summit, where Vladimir Putin is noticeably absent.

President Biden talks to China's President Xi Jinping at the G20 meeting in Bali while the two countries' tensions are high. Disagreements includes status of Taiwan, trade and Russia's war in Ukraine.
