A poll released Tuesday by AARP, the interest group for Americans age 50+, found a huge age divide in whom voters preferred in the December 6 Georgia Senate runoff between Sen. Raphael Warnock (D) and Herschel Walker (R).
Among voters 18-49, Warnock leads by 24 points. Meanwhile Walker leads by 9 points among voters 50 and older. In other words the poll, conducted last week by AARP Georgia, found a 33-point difference in preference between the two age groups.
Further, preference for Walker increased with age. Respondents 65 and older favored Walker by 13 points, as opposed to those age 50-64 who favored him by 4 percentage points.
Carving out Black voters over age 50, however, showed a marked exception. They favored Warnock by a whopping 83 points.
Overall, Warnock led Walker by 4 percentage points across the board. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3%.
